2025 PIA GOLF CART AND E-BIKE RULES & REGULATIONS
- No operating the golf cart or e-bike in a reckless manner or in violation of any traffic laws or posted signs. All golf cart occupants must be seated at all times with hands, feet, arms and legs inside the vehicle. No standing up or changing seats while the golf cart is in motion.
- STAY AT LEAST 10 FEET AWAY FROM THE EDGE OF DITCHES AND CANALS. DITCHES AND CANALS CAN BE VERY DEEP AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. If you get close to the edge, the slope can pull your cart or bike into it which can cause serious injury or death. No operating the cart or e-bike on a beach, in the sand or in the water.
- No more passengers or operators than the vehicle is designed for: 4 people on a 4 passenger cart; 6 people on a 6 passenger cart; 1 person per bike. No riders on golf carts under the age of 8.
- Only 1 pet or service animal is allowed in front passenger area of golf carts and it must be in a carrier. If the pet or service animal is not in a carrier, it must ride in the rear cargo area with seat down and the pet or service animal on leash tended by someone other than the driver. Note: this reduces the rear seat capacity to 1 pet or service animal and 0 persons and overall cart capacity to 2 persons on a 4 passenger cart and 4 persons on a 6 passenger cart. Unruly pets will not be allowed on golf carts at PIA island ambassadors discretion. NO PETS OR SERVICE ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED AT ANY TIME ON THE SEATS. Maximum of 2 pets or service animals in the cargo area at one time.
- No driving the golf cart or e-bike off road on trails or private property. Golf cart and e-bike operation is restricted to roads and parking lots. No parking the golf cart or e-bike on the road. No parking the golf car or e-bike on private property without the permission of the owner. No operating golf carts on Centre Dyke Road.
- No operating the golf cart or e-bike under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other substances that can impair operator judgement or reaction times. No drinking, texting or talking on the phone while operating the golf cart or e-bike. Helmets must be worn at all times when operating an e-bike.
- Only the renter who has his/her license on file and has signed the contract may operate the equipment. You cannot loan the equipment to anyone. Golf cart drivers must be minimum 19 years old and have valid driver’s license. E-bike operators must be at least 16 years of age.
- Golf carts and e-bikes may not be used to tow other objects. E-bikes may not be towed or carried by any other vehicles. No placing of any other equipment such as bicycles, furniture, cooking or camping equipment, etc. on the golf cart without authorized permission from Pelee Island Adventures. (ask if you are not sure)
Specific Rules for OVERNIGHT GOLF CART RENTALS
- No operating golf carts between 1 hour after sunset and one hour before sunrise.
- For overnight rentals, during non-operating hours (one hour after sunset until one hour before sunrise), the golf cart must remain parked at the location given to the rental company at time of rental.
The operator(s) and/or credit card on-file holder agree(s) to the above terms and rules of operation and agree that if they are found in violation of any of these trules by any Pelee Island Adventures employee or the Pelee Island Compliance officer or any O.P.P. officer, that they will forfeit a $500 and any remaining time on their rental agreement which will be immediately terminated. The operator agrees to not dispute any such charge made by the COMPANY.
