Pelee Island is steeped in History and lore. Just scratching the surface, you will feel like you have stepped back into a simpler time. Boasting multiple historical points of interest from Vin Villa Ruins, Canada’s first commercial estate winery, to the restored Lighthouse in our Lighthouse nature reserve, and “Lake Henry” Marsh you will be drawn back in amazement at everything that the Island has been through. Do not forget about the amazing stories of prohibition time rum-runners from Al Capones Purple Gang using the Stone House 1891 on Pelee Island as a drop -off and pickup spot to get the Whiskey from Walkerville, ON across to the U.S.
